Habitat
The Valley Wildlife Action Group’s mission is threefold: to provide clear and accurate information regarding existing wildlife habitat in the Mad River Valley Watershed (Arrowwood Mapping Projects); raise and heighten public awareness and engagement about wildlife inventory and inspire community participation in sound wildlife conservation practices (Forest, Wildlife, Communities Project); and provide clear, long-range directives for town plans and zoning ordinances via demonstration projects such as the Fayston-owned Chase Brook Parcel (currently planning using collaboration from the town of Fayston, Mad River Path, Catamount Trail, local hunters, Mountain Bike Club, the Northern Forest Alliance, and Fayston School).
Initiatives
- The Forest Wildlife Communities Project provides education on existing wildlife habitats through meetings with local municipal boards and broader community outreach (Farmers’ Market, Welcome Packets, etc).
- Creation of tri-town bi-annual meetings of the Conservation Commission to discuss regional long-range initiatives.
